This is an exploration and reflection on paradox.

Part One – The Teachings of the Glass

Paradox is our greatest teacher because these quagmires in the threads of logic twist us, stretch us and pull us into realms requiring deeper relationship to Greater Truth.

In reality, paradox does not exist. Paradox only exists in the realm of perception. That is to say when one perception brushes up against the reality of another mutually convincing perception and appears to negate the other by its existence and vice versa.

Yet, there is a deeper teaching within every paradox that makes it more than mere illusion, and lifts it to the status of allusion…

There I was, upside down. I went from downward-facing-dog to warrior, to center (yoga poses), to a deep triangle side stretch. My friend, and yoga mentor, and I took a water break. After wiping away the sweat and replenishing, back into the poses we went.

After breathing into the challenges strength stretches, feeling the tension of my intension, to integrate this pose to its fullest, I gazed at my focal point, my glass of water sitting peacefully at the wall.

In this state of focus, a life shifting truth was brought immediately into my awareness… “It is Both.”

Yes, both. My glass was both half empty and half full. Both statements were true.

Part Two – Paradoxical Exploration

Paradox: Nothing is possible when everything is possible.

Did you know that when we lack intension, when we say “I don’t know” or “Maybe this, maybe that” we are opening a doorway of possibility. Yet, this may not be the doorway of possibility we wish to be opening. There are two doorways of possibility.

The first doorway, is the doorway where everything is possible. The second doorway, is the doorway where everything is possible. Don’t give up yet! There is a keystone difference between the two doors.

Doorway one: Chaotic Possibility

Yes, everything is possible and yet things are chaotic and happening to us and pushing us and pulling us and at time crushing us and overwhelming us. So much is going on at once, that creating “what we want“now becomes impossible because chaos and instability is the ruling factor behind this doorway. And thus we encounter the paradox: Nothing is possible when everything is possible.

Doorway two: Pure Potential

Yes, everything is possible behind door number two, yet only the possibility we focus on is what manifests behind this door. And here we encounter life as: When nothing (else) is possible, everything is possible (we choose). What we choose, we focus on and what we focus on we manifest.

For, the genie says not, “As you wish.” But rather, “As you focus.”

Accessing the World of Potential

The next time you catch yourself believing, “I don’t know what I want.” Be care, without focus, anything is possible, literally. Anything can come to stand between you and the doorway of potential.

The Course in Miracles teaches us to sit in calmness and ask ourselves, “What do I want to come of this?”

What do you want to come of this situation? What matters most to you in this lifetime? What do you value? Gardening? Life purpose? Family? Travel?

Moral of the Story

What is falling away to chaos that needs a firm choice in place to focus into outcome and eliminate inter”fear”ance?
